FAQs

What is the difference between ferric alum and non-ferric alum?

Ferric alum contains a higher level of iron and is mostly used in water and wastewater treatment. Non-ferric alum has very low iron content and is preferred where whiteness and purity matter, such as paper, textile and drinking-water applications.

In Indian industry, the word alum usually refers to aluminium sulphate. Potash alum and ammonium alum are different double-sulphate compounds, so always specify the grade you need.
